Verify Forrest Probation and Parole

Forrest County parole and probation records answer whether a released person remains under Mississippi supervision and which agency holds the case. Parole, probation, earned-release supervision, and discharge are not interchangeable. To verify Forrest County post-release supervision, begin with the exact status in the MDOC offender record and the sentencing court, then confirm the assigned office through Community Corrections. A county conviction does not always mean a Forrest County reporting office. Residence, approved placement, and case assignment may control. Jail release records still remain the proper proof of a county-jail exit.

Forrest Parole Versus Probation

Parole follows confinement in the state prison system. The Mississippi State Parole Board decides whether an eligible person receives parole, while MDOC prepares the release and Community Corrections supervises the person afterward. Probation comes from a court order, often instead of incarceration or as part of a suspended sentence. The sentencing court defines the term, and MDOC Community Corrections ordinarily provides field supervision.

Earned-release supervision, commonly called ERS, is another MDOC status. An eligible person serves a final portion of a sentence under supervision through a statutory release path. Unconditional discharge is different from all three. It means the applicable sentence or supervision has ended and should be shown by a formal agency or court record.

Check Forrest Post-Release Supervision

A reliable check begins with identity. Use the MDOC number when known because it avoids namesakes. Otherwise compare the full name, birth date, county of conviction, sentence, and other public details. Record the status wording exactly. Do not turn a location field or tentative date into a claim of parole.

  1. Search the MDOC offender record by MDOC number or name.
  2. Match identity through birth date, sentence, and Forrest County conviction data.
  3. Read the status and supervision label without substituting broader terms.
  4. Check the sentencing court for probation, revocation, or termination orders.
  5. Use MDOC Community Corrections to confirm the assigned office.
  6. Request formal discharge proof if the issue is whether supervision ended.

The county jail roster cannot answer this question. It only addresses current local custody. A person may leave Forrest County Adult Detention Center on bond with no MDOC supervision, or may be transferred into MDOC and later released under parole or ERS. The county booking/release record and the state supervision record document separate events.

Forrest Supervision Office Assignment

The local office published by MDOC is the Forrest Probation & Parole Office. It can route questions about verified community-supervision cases, but it does not prove that someone bonded out of the Adult Detention Center. Confirm the legal status first, then provide the MDOC number and the minimum details needed to locate the case.

Forrest Probation & Parole Office
17 JM Tatum Industrial Drive, Building 100
Hattiesburg, MS 39401
Telephone: 601-582-3514
Fax: 601-584-4403

The assigned reporting office follows the approved residence and case assignment, not automatically the county of conviction. A person convicted in Forrest County may report elsewhere after an approved move. Likewise, a person convicted elsewhere may report in Hattiesburg. Community Corrections is the proper source for current routing.

Why Forrest Office Location Changes

This local detail prevents a common mistake. County of conviction links the sentence to a Forrest County court, but community placement follows the actual supervision plan. A transfer between offices can change the reporting site without ending parole, probation, or ERS. An address change alone is also not proof that MDOC approved a transfer.

First identify the exact type through the MDOC supervision definitions. Then ask Community Corrections for the responsible office. The Forrest office can help with a local assignment, while the central department can route cases tied to another approved residence. This sequence avoids sending a probation question to the Parole Board or asking a court clerk for day-to-day reporting details.

Note: A Forrest County conviction and a Forrest County reporting office are related facts only when the case assignment confirms both.

Forrest Parole Board Records

The Mississippi State Parole Board makes parole decisions. Mississippi's Public Meeting Notices portal carries dated board notices, but no official public person-by-person calendar or current decisions database was verified. A scheduled hearing means consideration, not release. Outcomes can include a grant, denial, continuance, set-off, rescission, or revocation, depending on the proceeding.

A grant may still require release planning, an approved residence, detainer clearance, and other prerequisites before physical release. Formal Board action and the updated MDOC record are more useful than a meeting notice. Historic Board minutes through 2009 appear in the MDAH finding aid, but that archive is not a current status search.

The Board is listed at 239 North Lamar Street, Suite 501, Jackson, MS 39201, telephone 601-576-3520. MDOC publishes MSStateParoleBoard@mdoc.state.ms.us for parole-status questions. Use the MDOC number when seeking a specific action.

Forrest Parole Eligibility Limits

Miss. Code § 47-7-3 contains Mississippi's central parole-eligibility rules and exclusions. Offense, sentence, and relevant dates affect the analysis. There is no sound universal fraction that predicts when every state prisoner will be paroled. Eligibility permits consideration. It does not promise a favorable Board action or a physical release on the first eligible date.

Keep the roles separate. A Forrest County judge imposes a sentence. The State Parole Board decides parole. MDOC computes state dates, prepares eligible releases, and supervises afterward. The Circuit Clerk maintains court records but cannot decide parole. The Board does not hold the county booking/release entry.

Release is not automatic: An eligibility date or grant can precede the completed MDOC release process and community placement.

Forrest Violations and Absconders

Supervision conditions can include reporting, approved residence, treatment, travel limits, fees, and compliance with court or MDOC directives. The exact terms are found in the court order, certificate, or supervision documents. Do not assume the conditions from the label alone.

An absconder is a supervised person whom the responsible authority has formally treated as having stopped required contact or left supervision. A missed appointment, old address, or social-media claim does not establish that status. An MDOC warrant and revocation process can follow, but only the proper authority can confirm it. Check official MDOC material and contact Community Corrections.

VINE may notify a registrant about a later custody event. It is not a probation compliance ledger and does not cover every supervision change. If a person returns to custody, confirm which authority holds the person and whether the event concerns a new booking, a detainer, or a revocation.

Forrest Supervision Discharge Records

Completion should be documented. Miss. Code § 47-7-33.1 provides for a discharge certificate after completion of probation conditions in the circumstances covered by that section. A court docket may also contain an order terminating probation. For parole, ERS, or another MDOC placement, request the applicable discharge or status record from MDOC.

Discharge
Formal completion of the sentence or supervision described by the record.
Revocation
An official action that withdraws a community placement after due process.
Detainer
A request or hold from another authority that can prevent or redirect release.
Absconder
A formal supervision status, not a guess based on contact or location.

Failing to find someone in a public search does not prove discharge. Obtain the certificate or termination entry. The Forrest County released-inmate record path explains how the separate county release record confirms the earlier jail exit.

Forrest MDOC Supervision Records

A public MDOC detail page is the starting point, but it may not answer every question about a Forrest County supervision term. The public fields establish identity, sentence data, county of conviction, location or status wording, and any date the system displays. They should be read as separate facts. A location change does not prove release. A tentative date does not establish parole. A community status does not prove that the entire sentence has been discharged.

When the public result is incomplete, request the specific record that answers the issue. MDOC identifies its Records Department at P.O. Box 24388, Jackson, MS 39225, telephone 601-933-2889, and MDOCRecordsDepartment@mdoc.state.ms.us. Use the MDOC number, describe the supervision or discharge record sought, and ask which portions are public before paying. Active and inactive offender master files are public under the department's published administrative rules, subject to exemptions. Inactive files can include people who completed parole, probation, post-release supervision, or another supervised status.

The published MDOC schedule lists a $2 minimum, copy charges by page size, $10 per staff hour, and postage, with an estimate prepaid by cashier's check or money order. Verify the current estimate before sending payment. A focused request for the status entry, discharge certificate, or time sheet is more useful than asking the Records Department to answer a broad narrative question.

Forrest Release and Supervision Status

Physical release and legal supervision must be verified separately. A Forrest County Adult Detention Center record can show that county custody ended, while an MDOC record can show that parole, probation, ERS, or another community placement continues. A person may therefore be outside the jail but still subject to reporting and other lawful conditions.

The reverse distinction also matters. A court may order probation without a prior MDOC prison term, so the person should not be called a parolee. A state prisoner may leave an institution on ERS rather than parole. If a later jail booking occurs, it does not by itself explain whether the supervision case was revoked. Use the new booking, supervision record, and formal court or MDOC action together.

Forrest County conviction data identifies the sentencing county. The assigned supervision office follows residence and case assignment. The discharge document establishes completion. Keeping those three facts apart prevents an office address, missing search result, or elapsed date from being mistaken for the end of supervision.
